Kids Becoming Catholic

shepherdRite of Christian Initiation for Children

This program of formation is for two distinct groups (1) Unbaptized Children above the age of 7 or (2) Children who may have been baptized but have passed the standard age to have received with their peer group the sacraments of 1st Confession, 1st Holy Communion and/or Confirmation.

The program is individually tailored to the child's sacramental needs and follows the course of study called the Faith and Life Series. This is a two year process for those who have been baptized and the courses take place during the regular hours of faith formation sessions.  The classes are grouped according to ages and the children prepare to receive their Sacraments of Initiation  (1st Confession, 1st Communion and Confirmation) which occurs in the Easter Season.  Parents are also required to attend Sacramental Preparation Sessions so that they can assist their child in preparing for the sacraments and fulfill the baptismal promises made to raise their child in the Faith.
